Patna/Aurangabad: Two children from the same family died in Bihar’s Aurangabad district after eating a laddu believed to be contaminated, prompting police to launch an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in Pathra village, where six-year-old Divyanshu Kumar and his eight-month-old sister, Anshika Kumari, suddenly fell ill after consuming the sweet. According to local reports, an unidentified man handed Divyanshu a laddu in the evening. He ate part of it and then gave some to his baby sister. Within minutes, Anshika’s condition deteriorated, and she died shortly afterwards. As panic spread through the household, Divyanshu also began vomiting and became critically unwell. He was rushed to a hospital in Daudnagar, but doctors declared him dead around midnight.
The deaths have unsettled the village, where residents are struggling to understand what happened and fear deliberate contamination. Police have begun questioning the man who allegedly gave the laddu, as well as others who were present at the time. Officers say the cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem examination.
Senior police officials, including the Daudnagar SDPO, visited the family and assured them that a full investigation is underway. The case has sparked widespread concern, with many villagers calling for swift action and clearer answers.
