Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, unveiled plans for major religious and safety initiatives at a BJP worker felicitation ceremony in Patna.
Addressing party workers at Gayghat KL Seven, Choudhary announced that the state government will construct a grand corridor at the historic Badi Patan Devi temple, a revered Shaktipeeth. Designed to enhance the experience of devotees and promote religious tourism, the corridor is expected to strengthen Patna City’s cultural identity. A formal decision on the project is slated for the first cabinet meeting following the formation of the government.
Choudhary also highlighted women’s safety as a priority, announcing the creation of a specialised unit called ‘Didi Police’. The force will focus on ensuring the security of school and college girls across the state. “Alongside good governance, the safety of women is among our top priorities,” he said.
Other announcements at the event included the appointment of Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kumar as the whip in the Legislative Assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, also present at the programme, spoke about plans to rename Gulzarbagh and implement development projects across 11 cities, including Sonpur and Sitamarhi.
