Patna: In a bid to improve its functioning, RERA Bihar has launched a special initiative christened ‘Rera Ki Baaten’. It entails inviting senior office bearers of the best-performing RERAs across the country to obtain information about their best practices and, wherever possible, implement them in the functioning of RERA Bihar. It also entails sharing the initiatives of RERA Bihar on different fronts and seeking suggestions for further refinement of the initiatives.
As part of the initiative, a team of RERA Maharashtra led by its Chairman Ajoy Mehta visited Patna and had interactive sessions with a team of RERA Bihar led by Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh.
The event also witnessed the participation of Maharashtra RERA Member Mahesh Pathak and RERA Bihar Members Nupur Banerjee and S D Jha among other senior officials from both RERAs.
The RERA Bihar Chairman said, “The idea of organizing such an interactive event is to identify and understand the good practices across the country, customize them to our requirements, and roll them out in Bihar without delay.”
He also informed that under the RERA Ki Baaten Series, teams from other RERAs too would be invited to Bihar to learn good practices.
Addressing the participants Ajoy Mehta said, “I am really thankful to RERA Bihar Chairman for starting a very innovative thing of organizing such interactive event, in which all the officer of RERA Bihar got an opportunity to interact with top functionaries of Maharashtra RERA.”
He said that this practice needed to be replicated across the RERAs of the country because it would be beneficial for all.
Airing her views at the event, Nupur Banerjee laid emphasis on need of green buildings to protect the environment.
RERA Bihar Member S D Jha laid emphasis monitoring of registered projects and said, “Prevention is better than cure. If regular monitoring is done, then number of disputes would go down.”
Maharashtra RERA Member Mahesh Pathak said that transparency is key for protecting the interest of homebuyers as it allows them to make informed decision. He also laid emphasis on spreading word about actions being taken against defaulters, as it would work as a deterrent against those who think of violating the provisions of RERA Act.
The two-day interactive event witnessed presentation by Maharashtra RERA team in which its senior officials shared detailed information about the processes adopted there for dealing with registration of projects and agents, monitoring of registered projects and also the process used for filing and disposing of complaint and other related cases.
Maharashtra RERA Chairman Ajoy Mehta also answered queries raised during question-and-answer session.
Thanking the visiting team of Maharashtra RERA, Vivek Kumar Singh said: “Protecting the interests of homebuyers is the top priority of RERA Bihar and all our initiatives are aimed at achieving this goal in best possible manner.”
