Patna: The elevated corridor under construction between Danapur and Bihta—one of chief minister Nitish Kumar’s flagship infrastructure projects—came under close scrutiny on Saturday as the state government sought to keep the scheme on track for completion by September 2026.
Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary of the road construction department, inspected the project site and directed officials to remove any obstacles hindering progress with immediate effect. Stressing adherence to timelines and construction quality, Pal said delays would undermine the corridor’s strategic importance for the region.
Officials briefed the secretary on construction milestones, technical challenges and on-ground constraints. Pal instructed the project team to expedite work and resolve pending issues without compromising standards. The executing agency assured him that the corridor would be delivered within the agreed deadline.

Once completed, the elevated road is expected to significantly improve access to the Patna–Bihta airport and transform traffic movement along the Koilwar–Danapur stretch. Pal said the corridor would ease congestion, reduce travel time for commuters and provide a smoother, more reliable route for both local and through traffic.
The Danapur–Bihta project forms a key part of Bihar’s broader push to upgrade urban and peri-urban connectivity, with the state banking on large transport links to support economic activity and future airport operations.
