Patna: Bihar is set to soon receive a Vande Bharat Express, with plans to connect Muzaffarpur to the national capital, New Delhi. The semi-high-speed train, confirmed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, is expected to significantly reduce travel time on the route. However, an official schedule for the service has yet to be finalised.
The proposal follows a request from Muzaffarpur MP and Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Dr Rajbhushan Choudhary, who urged the railway ministry to introduce the Vande Bharat Express on this corridor. Reports indicate that the ministry is accelerating efforts to launch the service in the coming days.
Dr Choudhary recommended that the train depart from both Muzaffarpur and Delhi in the evening, arriving at its destination by the following morning. Such a schedule would provide a major convenience to commuters from Muzaffarpur and neighbouring parts of North Bihar.
Currently, the journey between Muzaffarpur Junction and Delhi takes more than 18 hours by conventional trains. With the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express, travel time is expected to be cut by five to six hours, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable alternative.
