Patna: Tensions escalated in Patna on Friday as the family of a NEET student who recently died expressed outrage following a meeting with the state’s Director General of Police (DGP). The family accused officials of widespread corruption, alleging that their pleas for justice had been ignored because they could not pay bribes.
“No one is able to get justice for my daughter. Everyone has received bribes — the DSP, SP, everyone is corrupt,” the mother said outside the DGP’s residence. She added that while Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary had called the family, they were primarily seeking accountability, not formal meetings.
The father echoed his wife’s frustration, stating that the meeting offered no concrete solutions. “We came here for justice. We thought something substantial would be told to us, but only pointless things were discussed. We don’t see justice coming from anywhere,” he said.
After the DGP meeting, the family was taken to meet Deputy CM Choudhary. Officials said the DGP left afterwards, but the family’s anger remained unabated.
Meanwhile, student unrest has grown in Patna. Hundreds from Patna University staged a march from Magadh Mahila College to Kargil Chowk under the banner ‘Save the Daughter, Justice March’. Demonstrators scrawled slogans such as “Justice for NEET Girl” on the streets, and the city remains tense as protests continue.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has intensified its efforts. Police confirmed that data from the student’s mobile phone has been recovered and is under analysis, with key evidence reportedly obtained from Snapchat. Authorities are now focusing on three suspects, while DNA reports are expected by Friday evening.
