Patna: Heavy fog across North India has slowed down train movement, creating major problems for passengers travelling through Patna Junction. Because of very low visibility during early mornings and late nights, train drivers have been instructed to run at controlled speeds to avoid accidents. As a result, several trains are now running between five and fifteen hours late. Passengers are facing long waits, missed connections and hours of standing on cold, crowded platforms.
Even high-speed and premium trains have not escaped the impact of the weather. The Delhi–Patna Tejas Express is running more than nine hours late, while the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express has been delayed by over twelve hours. The Sampoorna Kranti Express is behind schedule by more than five hours, and the Rajendra Nagar–New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express is nearly eight hours late. These trains are usually known for punctuality, which has made the situation more frustrating for regular travellers.
Many other long-distance trains are also affected. The Bhagalpur Garib Rath Express is delayed by about five hours, the Magadh Express by more than five hours, and the Brahmaputra Mail by nearly two hours. The Bilaspur–Buxar Express is running close to five hours late, while the Delhi–Kamakhya Express is more than five and a half hours behind schedule. Because several delayed trains are arriving together, Patna Junction is seeing large crowds, making it difficult for passengers to move or find space to sit.
Railway officials say fog is the main reason for the disruption and that safety remains the top priority. They have advised passengers to check the latest train status before starting their journey. Information is being shared through enquiry counters and digital boards at the station. The railway administration has said that normal services will be restored once the weather improves, but delays may continue for the next few days if fog conditions remain the same.
