Patna: Patna Women’s College’s Department of Advertising and Marketing Management organised a two-day annual workshop on salesmanship and selling skills this week, bringing students face-to-face with real customers and industry professionals in a simulated marketplace environment. Held on February 6 and 7, the event aimed to strengthen practical competencies and give students direct exposure to the realities of sales and marketing work.
The programme was inaugurated by the principal, Dr Sr M Rashmi AC, who underlined the importance of experiential learning alongside classroom teaching. She said that direct interaction with industry and customers helps students build confidence, communication skills and a professional mindset essential for careers in marketing.
The campus was transformed into a lively exhibition space, with 97 stalls set up by sponsors and exhibitors from sectors including education, food and beverage, apparel, cosmetics and salons. Organisations such as UK London Academy, DENI TVS, Ornate Makeup Studio, the Institute of Engineering and Management, OCB Cakes, Indira IVF, Raj Fresh, Career Planner and Edutera took part, offering students a realistic selling environment.
Throughout the workshop, students managed stalls, pitched products, handled queries and practised persuasive selling techniques. Faculty members said the hands-on format enabled participants to understand consumer behaviour, market dynamics and teamwork, while developing practical problem-solving skills rarely gained through theory alone.
The event was coordinated by faculty members under the guidance of Dr Shazia Rahman, head of the department, and assistant professor Nusrath Sohail. Organisers described the workshop as a valuable bridge between academic learning and professional practice, reinforcing the college’s focus on career-oriented education and industry readiness.
