Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced strict rules for students appearing in this year’s matriculation examinations, warning that those attempting to enter centres late or through unauthorised means could be barred from sitting exams for two years and face criminal charges.
In fresh guidelines issued ahead of the annual secondary examinations, the board said candidates who scale boundary walls or force entry after gates close will be treated as committing criminal trespass. First Information Reports (FIRs) will be filed, and the students may be disqualified from appearing in board examinations for the next two years.
The exams are scheduled to run from February 17 to February 25, with authorities emphasising punctuality. Students have been directed to reach their centres at least one hour before the start of each shift. Entry gates will be shut 30 minutes before the examination begins, after which no candidate will be allowed inside under any circumstances.
The board has also introduced a strict dress code aimed at curbing cheating. Students must attend in slippers or sandals only, with shoes and socks prohibited inside examination halls. Officials said anyone arriving in restricted footwear would be denied entry to the centre.
District administrations and education officials say they are fully prepared to conduct the examinations in a fair and peaceful manner. The measures form part of a broader effort to ensure a malpractice-free process across centres in the state.
The board added that responsibility will also extend to officials. Any centre superintendent found allowing rule-breakers to sit the examination could face disciplinary action, including suspension.
