Patna: Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday inspected the construction of a four-lane road with an underground drainage system along the serpentine canal, linking Patel Golambar to the western end of Eco Park and extending from the park’s eastern end to Atal Path. The project was announced during his recent Pragati Yatra and is seen as a key addition to Patna’s urban infrastructure.

Officials briefed the chief minister on the progress of the work, stating that sheet piling and slush removal have been completed on the Patel Golambar–Eco Park stretch, with sand piling currently underway. The corridor is designed to improve connectivity in one of the city’s busiest zones while addressing long-standing drainage challenges.
He directed authorities to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining strict quality standards. He emphasised that timely completion would help reduce traffic bottlenecks and enhance mobility for residents and commuters in the capital.

Senior officials present during the inspection included Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, Chief Minister’s Secretary Kumar Ravi, special officer Gopal Singh, Managing Director of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Shirsat Kapil Ashok, and District Magistrate Dr Thyagarajan S.M., along with other officials. The government has positioned the project as part of a broader push to modernise Patna’s infrastructure and improve urban living conditions.
