Patna: Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed officials to accelerate healthcare reforms under the state government’s flagship “Accessible Healthcare–Safe Life” initiative, part of the Saat Nishchay-3 development agenda.

During the review, CM emphasised the need to upgrade block-level community health centres into speciality hospitals and district hospitals into super-speciality facilities. He urged authorities to fast-track infrastructure development and improve clinical capacity, highlighting that stronger public health systems are essential to improving living standards across the state.
The Chief Minister also called for greater involvement of the private sector in healthcare, encouraging public-private partnerships in new medical colleges and hospitals. He further directed the government to invite reputed private hospital groups to establish facilities in Bihar, aiming to expand access to advanced medical treatment and strengthen medical education.

Addressing the issue of healthcare delivery in remote rural areas, he said doctors should be given special incentives to serve in underserved regions. He also instructed officials to bring a policy to curb private practice by government doctors, arguing that public healthcare staff must prioritise state-run institutions. “Our goal is to make medical services easily accessible so that people can live a safer and more convenient life,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Health Department Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, and several senior officials, including representatives from the State Health Society and the health department’s leadership team.
