Patna: A man from Bihar has been accused of killing his wife and three young daughters in an incident that has drawn attention in both Delhi and Bihar.
Police in Delhi said the bodies of a woman and three children were discovered in a rented property in the city’s northern area on Wednesday morning. The victims have been identified as Anita and her daughters, aged seven, five and three. Authorities stated that all four had sustained fatal injuries, and initial findings suggest they died as a result of sharp force trauma.
The suspected attacker, identified as Munchun Kewat, originally hails from Patna and had moved to Delhi in search of work. He was employed as a vegetable seller at Azadpur Mandi. Police reported that he has not been located since the incident and is being treated as a person of interest.
The deaths occurred in a house in Chandan Park within the larger area of Siraspur. Neighbours alerted authorities after noticing unusual circumstances, prompting officers and forensic teams to attend the scene. Officials have indicated that domestic discord is being examined as a possible factor.
News of the tragedy has caused distress among relatives in Patna, where family members expressed shock and grief. Local residents described Kewat’s move to Delhi several years ago to improve his financial situation. He reportedly lived with his family in rented accommodation while working in the city’s wholesale market.
The police have opened an investigation and registered a case under relevant provisions of the penal code. Multiple teams have been deployed to search for the suspect, and checks at transport hubs have been intensified. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
Authorities said inquiries are ongoing and appealed for information that might assist the investigation.
