Patna: The National Service Scheme unit at Patna Women’s College inaugurated a seven-day special camp on Tuesday aimed at encouraging youth participation in environmental and social initiatives.
Held at Carmel Hall on March 10, the camp—organised under the theme “Youth for Clean, Green and Healthy India”—will continue until March 16 and bring together student volunteers for a series of awareness and community service activities.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof Suheli Mehta, NSS coordinator at Patna University, and Dr Sister Celine Crasta AC, cultural coordinator and head of the history department at Patna Women’s College. The programme began with the NSS song and a welcome address by Dr Jyoti Chandra, the college’s NSS programme officer.

Speakers urged volunteers to actively engage in community work and environmental protection efforts during the week-long camp. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Brahmanand, NSS programme officer at the college.
Competitions were also organised on the opening day to promote creativity and environmental awareness among participants.
In the Best Out of Waste competition, Khushi Raj, Vaishnavi Kumari and Archana Anchal secured first position, followed by Khushi Singh and Shifali Kumari in second place, while Rafiya Jamal, Ayushi Arya and Shreya Krishna finished third.

In the poster making competition, Himanshi Singh, Tanishka Kashyap, Shreya Krishna and Ayushi Arya won first place. Khushi Raj, Archana Anchal, Vaishnavi Kumari and Rafiya Jamal secured second position, while Mahrukh Firdaus, Rimjhim Rani and Rimpi Aishwarya came third.
Organisers said the camp will include cleanliness drives, environmental awareness sessions, health campaigns and community outreach activities, reflecting the NSS motto: “Not Me, But You.”
