Patna: Bihar government has directed power distribution companies to take strict action against electricity bill defaulters and accelerate revenue collection across the state. The directive came during a revenue review meeting held at Vidyut Bhawan in Patna on Friday.
The meeting was chaired by Energy Secretary and chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, Manoj Kumar Singh. Officials reviewed the progress of electricity revenue collection and discussed measures to recover pending dues from consumers.
During the review, the energy secretary instructed officials to regularly update the list of defaulting consumers and ensure strict action against those who have not cleared their electricity bills. He emphasised that large defaulters must be identified and dealt with on priority.
Officials were also asked to launch special drives to speed up revenue collection and ensure that cases of double electricity connections are stopped completely. Authorities were directed to identify such irregularities quickly and take immediate action to prevent revenue losses.
The South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited have been given a target to collect Rs 100 crore each by March 31. Senior officials from the state’s power distribution companies attended the meeting.
