Ara/Patna: Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh has told a court in Ara that he wishes to end his marriage with his wife, Jyoti Singh, as proceedings in their divorce case continued.
During a hearing before Justice Ashutosh Kumar at Ara civil court, Singh stated that he no longer wanted to live with his wife and sought a divorce. He also indicated his willingness to offer a one-time settlement in an effort to resolve the matter through mutual consent.
Both parties had been summoned as part of a reconciliation process. While Singh was present in court, Jyoti Singh did not attend for reasons that were not disclosed.
According to Singh’s counsel, the court attempted to facilitate a conversation between the two via video conferencing, but was unable to establish contact with Jyoti Singh, and reconciliation efforts could not proceed.
The case has seen alternating appearances by the parties. During a previous hearing, Jyoti Singh was present while Pawan Singh was absent. At the time, she had told the court she was seeking justice and became emotional during the proceedings.
Outside the court, Singh’s demeanour suggested the matter may not be resolved quickly, with further hearings likely.
Separately, Jyoti Singh shared a video on social media showing her performing Chhath Puja rituals, which drew attention online.
The case continues to be heard, with the court expected to take further steps in the coming hearings.
