Patna: The widening of the Bakhtiyarpur–Barh–Mokama road, a crucial link connected to NH-31, is in its final stages and is expected to be opened to the public soon, according to officials from the Road Construction Department.
The project, covering approximately 45.7 kilometres, is aimed at significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel time along the busy corridor. Once completed, authorities say the upgraded route will offer smoother and faster connectivity between key towns in the region.
The road begins at Karjan, near the Bakhtiyarpur–Tajpur bridge in Athmalgola, and passes through Barh, Pandarak Mor, Shivnar and Mokama, before terminating at Bata Chowk in Mokama Bazaar.
Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary of the department, said the widening and strengthening of this link road would improve connectivity with both state and national highways, while also helping address persistent congestion on NH-31.
The project is also expected to support local economic activity, particularly in agriculture, by improving access to markets and generating employment opportunities in surrounding areas.
According to official data, the road has been expanded from 6.5 metres to 11 metres, effectively converting it into a four-lane corridor. The total cost of the project stands at approximately Rs 249.88 crore.
Officials say the upgrade is part of a broader push to strengthen Bihar’s road infrastructure and enhance regional connectivity across the state.
