Bodh Gaya: A 40-acre theme park showcasing replicas of some of the world’s most recognizable landmarks is under construction in Bodh Gaya, in what officials describe as a significant effort to expand tourism beyond the city’s traditional religious appeal.
The “Seven Wonders of the World” park, being developed at a cost of Rs. 14 crore, is scheduled for completion by the end of May this year. The project will bring together scaled versions of monuments including the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Giza, Machu Picchu in Peru and Petra in Jordan.
Authorities say the initiative is intended to complement Bodh Gaya’s status as a major Buddhist pilgrimage site by offering an additional draw for visitors. The city, long associated with religious tourism, has in recent years sought to broaden its appeal to a wider domestic and international audience.
Officials also point to the project’s potential economic benefits, particularly in terms of employment generation for local communities and increased visitor footfall.
Once completed, the park is expected to stand as a distinctive attraction in eastern India, reflecting a growing trend of themed tourism developments across the country.
