Patna: Construction of a major flyover project in Patna is progressing, with authorities aiming to ease chronic traffic congestion and improve connectivity across key parts of the city.
The project, being executed by the Road Construction Department, includes a four-lane elevated corridor from Mithapur to Karbigahiya via Chiraiyatand, along with service lanes and approach roads.
Key infrastructure project underway
Estimated to cost around Rs 292.74 crore, the flyover is designed to decongest some of Patna’s busiest stretches.
Officials said service lanes are being developed alongside the corridor to separate local traffic from through traffic, helping improve both safety and movement.
The project is being implemented using modern construction techniques to ensure smoother and more efficient traffic flow once completed.
Connectivity boost across major areas

The corridor is expected to benefit areas such as Patna City and Kankarbagh, improving access to important locations including the Secretariat, Yarpur and the airport.
Authorities said the flyover will strengthen connectivity between eastern and south-eastern parts of the city and significantly reduce travel time for commuters.
Work progressing in phases
The first phase of the project is nearing completion and is expected to be finished within the next one to two months. Subsequent phases are expected to move forward at pace.
Officials said construction is being closely monitored to ensure timelines are met, with the overall project targeted for completion by December 2026.
Expected relief for commuters
Once operational, the flyover is expected to ease long traffic jams that often last up to two hours during peak periods.
Authorities said the project will play a key role in modernising Patna’s urban transport infrastructure and improving daily commuting conditions across the city.
