Patna: The Bihar Police headquarters has directed action against 50 police personnel for creating and posting reels and videos on social media while in uniform, triggering concern within the force over disciplinary standards.
An official communication from the headquarters mentioned, producing and sharing such content in uniform violates established standard operating procedures (SOPs). Superintendents of police across all districts have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and take prompt action against offenders.
The move follows a letter issued by the assistant inspector general (welfare) on April 20, which included a list of identified personnel along with links to the reels and videos in question.
According to officials, the highest number of cases has been reported from Patna, where 16 personnel have been flagged. Others named in the list are from districts including Darbhanga, Madhubani, Nalanda, Gaya, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Jamui, Munger and Kishanganj.
The headquarters has asked all districts to maintain strict control over the use of social media by personnel in uniform, warning that any violation should invite immediate disciplinary measures. Officials said the step was necessary to uphold departmental discipline and preserve the dignity associated with the uniform.
