Patna: The Janata Dal (United) has announced its new national executive, retaining Sanjay Kumar Jha as national working president while leaving out Nishant Kumar, the son of party chief Nitish Kumar, from its organisational structure.
The list, released on Wednesday, names 24 leaders across key roles including vice-presidents, general secretaries, treasurer and spokesperson. Jha will continue in his current role, while Nitish Kumar has already been elected as the party’s national president.
Among the prominent appointments, former MP Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi has been named national vice-president. Alok Kumar Suman, a member of parliament from Gopalganj, has been appointed treasurer.
The party has also named 12 national general secretaries, including Manish Verma, Afaq Ahmed Khan, Shyam Rajak, Ashok Choudhary, Ramesh Singh Kushwaha and Ramsevak Singh.
Other leaders appointed to the role include Kahkashan Perween, Kapil Harishchandra Patil, Raj Singh Maan, Sunil Kumar, Harshvardhan Singh and Ghulam Rasool Balyavi.
Balyavi and Perween have been included as representatives of minority communities within the party structure. Meanwhile, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has been appointed spokesperson-cum-secretary.
The exclusion of Nishant Kumar, who recently joined the party, is likely to draw attention as the JD(U) reshapes its leadership ahead of upcoming political challenges.
