Patna: Just days after taking over as Bihar’s chief minister, Samrat Chaudhary has begun shaping a public image centred around faith, culture and tradition. On Friday, during the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the chief minister performed a special Lord Satyanarayan पूजा at his official residence and offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Bihar. Photographs from the ceremony were later shared on social media platform X, where Chaudhary also posted a message wishing happiness, harmony and well-being for all people. His message spoke about the importance of righteousness, compassion and humanity, themes that have become increasingly visible in his public statements since taking office.
In less than two weeks as chief minister, Chaudhary has already visited several major religious sites across Bihar. Among the places he has paid respects to are the Badi Patandevi Temple, Hariharnath Temple, Punoura Dham and Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib. Political observers say these visits are helping the new chief minister build a softer and more culturally connected image among the people. In Bihar politics, where religion and tradition often influence public opinion, such gestures are seen as important symbolic moves aimed at strengthening public trust and emotional connection with voters.
A day before the special worship ceremony, the chief minister had also greeted people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and highlighted the teachings of Gautama Buddha. He referred to Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path as an ideal guide for human life and called for peace and harmony in society. Through these messages, Chaudhary appears to be presenting himself as a leader who values both governance and moral responsibility. His supporters believe this approach will help him connect with a wider section of society beyond political boundaries.
Even with a busy official schedule on Friday, the chief minister chose to begin his day with prayer and worship. The move sent a clear signal that spirituality and governance will both remain important parts of his leadership style. Analysts say such public displays of faith often resonate strongly with ordinary people, especially in states like Bihar where cultural and religious traditions continue to hold deep social importance. As Chaudhary settles into his new role, his repeated emphasis on faith and cultural identity is likely to remain a key part of his political image in the months ahead.
