Patna: The Bihar Museum has recorded its highest-ever annual footfall, with more than 5,00,000 visitors purchasing tickets over the past year — the first time the institution has crossed this mark since opening a decade ago.
Officials said the milestone reflects a growing public interest in history and culture, alongside the museum’s evolving appeal as a modern cultural destination.
Record Numbers In A Decade
According to data shared by the museum administration, over 5,00,000 visitors entered the premises through ticketed access during the year. When additional footfall from VIP visits and events hosted within the complex is included, the total number of visitors is estimated to be close to 7,00,000.
Ashok Kumar Sinha, additional director of the museum, described the achievement as a significant moment in its ten-year journey.
Growing Interest In Culture
Sinha attributed the surge in visitors to a renewed public engagement with heritage, coupled with the museum’s contemporary design and visitor-friendly amenities.
“The increasing interest in history and culture, along with modern facilities, has played a key role in attracting more visitors,” he said.
Boost To Tourism
Officials added that the rise in footfall is also contributing positively to Bihar’s broader tourism sector, with the museum emerging as one of the state’s key cultural attractions.
The trend, they said, signals a shift in how public spaces dedicated to heritage are being perceived — not only as educational institutions but also as accessible and engaging destinations for a wider audience.
