Patna: Political activity in Bihar has intensified as chief minister Samrat Choudhary held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi on Sunday, signalling that a long-anticipated cabinet expansion may be imminent.
Choudhary arrived in the capital with a list of potential ministerial candidates and is expected to finalise consultations with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s central leadership ahead of a proposed expansion later this week.
Series Of High-Level Meetings
The chief minister’s schedule in Delhi included a meeting with defence minister Rajnath Singh, where discussions reportedly covered both security and development-related issues concerning the state.
He also met railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to review infrastructure and railway projects, while a separate interaction with union minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh has further fuelled political speculation.

Focus On BJP Leadership Consultations
Attention is now centred on Choudhary’s expected meeting with home minister Amit Shah, which political observers believe could play a decisive role in finalising the cabinet’s composition.
A recent meeting involving former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has also drawn attention, with analysts suggesting it reflects ongoing efforts to balance political equations within the state.
Likely Induction Of New Faces
According to sources, preparations are under way to induct up to 16 ministers from the BJP quota. While 13 existing ministers are expected to retain their positions, discussions are ongoing over the inclusion of three new faces.
Party insiders indicate that internal deliberations over these potential candidates are in their final stages.
