Patna: In an innovative move to provide both sanitation and leisure facilities, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to launch four mobile Loo Cafes by converting old municipal vehicles. The project, which will be completed by next month, includes one air-conditioned cafe and three standard ones. All vehicles will be equipped with rooftop solar panels for sustainable energy use.
Animesh Kumar Parashar, Municipal Commissioner of PMC, explained that these mobile cafes can be relocated as needed, making them versatile for use during large gatherings, rallies, functions, and meetings. “The mobility of these Loo Cafes ensures they can be deployed wherever required, providing much-needed amenities during city events. We are working to finish the conversion process this month, and the cafes will be operational from next month. Their upkeep will be managed by the women of Swachhangini,” he stated.
Initially, the plan was to construct Loo Cafes at six fixed locations in Patna, with identified sites in Raja Bazaar, Kankarbagh, and Exhibition Road. However, due to other beautification projects under the flyovers in these areas, the fixed-location plan was scrapped, leading to the creation of mobile Loo Cafes instead.
The term Loo originates from British English, meaning toilet. A Loo Cafe is a unique concept that combines a modern toilet facility with a stylish cafe. Designed to serve both sanitation and refreshment needs, these mobile Loo Cafes will provide a space where people can enjoy food and beverages in attractively designed settings while also benefiting from clean, modern restrooms.
The introduction of these Loo Cafes at Patna’s busiest areas aims to offer both convenience and cleanliness to the city’s residents and visitors alike.
