Patna: The Pre-Primary Wing of St. Michael’s High School marked Mother’s Day on Saturday with a celebration centred on the theme “Different Nations, Mothers with One Devotion”, highlighting the shared values of love, sacrifice and care embodied by mothers across cultures.
Held on May 9, the programme brought together students, teachers and parents in an event that focused on the universal nature of motherhood, regardless of nationality, language or background. Organisers said the celebration aimed to recognise mothers as the first teachers in a child’s life and as a guiding force in shaping values such as kindness, compassion and responsibility.

The event was attended by the school’s principal, Fr. A. Christu Savarirajan, along with Primary School Vice-Principal Sr. Magdali Beck, Middle School Vice-Principal Fr. Amul Jacob, Treasurer Fr. Alwyn D’souza and academic coordinator Vinita Gilbert.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Savarirajan spoke about the sacrifices and responsibilities undertaken by mothers in raising families and nurturing children into responsible individuals. He described mothers as the “strongest pillars of society” and acknowledged their contribution to the moral and emotional development of children.

The celebration featured a series of cultural performances by students of UKG and their mothers, including prayer dances, action songs, poetry recitations, skits, talk shows, ramp walks and dance performances. The presentations focused on themes of affection, gratitude and family bonding.
Interactive games and group dance sessions involving parents, teachers and children added to the festive atmosphere, while the programme concluded with a grand finale and a vote of thanks to organisers and participating families.

School authorities said the event served as a reminder that, despite cultural differences, mothers around the world share the same aspirations for their children — good health, strong values and a meaningful future.
