Patna: Manoj Kumar Singh, Bihar’s energy secretary and chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, has directed officials to accelerate infrastructure upgrades at key substations in Begusarai district following an inspection on Friday.
Singh visited the grid substation in Begusarai and the Zero Mile power substation, where he reviewed technical operations, maintenance systems and consumer complaint mechanisms. During the inspection, he instructed officials to prioritise the augmentation and diversion work linked to the installation of an additional 100 MVA transformer at the Begusarai grid substation.
Officials were also told to improve storage and maintenance practices at the site. Singh directed the construction of a protective shed for outdoor equipment and called for the systematic stacking of materials, along with the swift disposal of scrap items.
The inspection focused on strengthening the reliability of electricity supply in the region, particularly for industrial consumers. Singh stressed that uninterrupted power supply must be ensured and said newly recruited personnel should receive additional technical training to improve operational efficiency.
He also approved the removal of a boundary wall to facilitate the installation of the new transformer and instructed that the equipment be commissioned within a week.
At the Zero Mile power substation, Singh reviewed the operational fuse call register and assessed consumer grievance redressal by making sample feedback calls to consumers. According to officials, complaints were being resolved within an average time of about one hour.
Senior officials present during the inspection included chief engineers from the commercial and transmission operation and maintenance divisions, along with superintending and executive engineers from Begusarai and Barauni.
