Patna's 'Selfie with Dustbin' Campaign to Start on September 19, Says Minister Nitin Nabin

Patna: Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin has urged ward councilors to raise awareness about the city’s new waste segregation initiative, ‘Mission Total Segregation.’ During a meeting held at the Smart City Building in Patna, Nabin emphasised the need for active public participation in keeping the city clean.

Speaking to ward members, Nabin announced the launch of the ‘Selfie with Dustbin’ campaign, which will begin on September 19. The initiative aims to encourage residents to take pride in their waste management efforts. He highlighted that cleanliness is a shared responsibility between the public and their representatives, urging councilors to play a pivotal role in promoting the campaign.

“Cleanliness is part of our culture,” Nabin said, “but it must also be reflected in our daily actions.”

The minister also visited the Bihar Chamber of Commerce, where he spoke to students about the importance of waste segregation. He stressed that the city’s cleanliness should not be limited to religious festivals like Chhath Puja, but should instead be maintained year-round.

In addition, the central government is set to launch a 15-day ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign from September 17, under the theme ‘Swachhata Sanskar Swachhata-2024.’ Nabin expressed pride in the fact that the central government has adopted Patna’s mission as part of its national Swachhata theme, calling it a “moment of happiness” for the city.
