Patna: Prashant Kishore has announced that Jan Suraj Party, which will be officially launched on October 2, will include a provision for the Right to Recall in its constitution. This provision will allow voters to recall their elected representatives midway through their term if they fail to meet expectations. Kishore is currently outlining the structure and vision of the party through his padayatra and public meetings, highlighting how Jan Suraj aims to offer a better political alternative.
Kishore explained that under this system, if an elected representative from Jan Suraj is deemed ineffective by the public, voters will have the right to pass a no-confidence motion. If a certain percentage of voters support the motion, Jan Suraj will require the representative to resign. The specific percentage needed to trigger this process is still being discussed within the party’s Constituent Assembly and will be finalized by the party’s official launch.
Although the Right to Recall is not part of the country’s existing legal framework, Jan Suraj plans to enforce it among all its representatives, emphasizing greater accountability. Kishore emphasized that this move will ensure that elected officials remain directly answerable to the people throughout their term, enhancing the party’s commitment to transparency and public trust.
