Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar visited the historic Ular Sun Temple in Patna district on Thursday, where he offered prayers and reviewed ongoing tourism development works at the site.
Temple Visit and Prayers
Kumar arrived at the temple in Dulhin Bazar block, where he offered prayers to Lord Bhaskar at the sanctum sanctorum. According to officials, the visit prompted heightened administrative alert in the surrounding area as security arrangements were quickly strengthened.
He spent a brief period inside the temple complex before moving on to inspect development sites within the premises.
Inspection of Development Works
During his visit, Kumar reviewed ongoing infrastructure and beautification works being carried out under a state tourism initiative aimed at developing the temple as a major heritage tourism destination.
Officials briefed him on construction progress, design upgrades and visitor amenities being added as part of the project.
Statement on Tourism Project
Speaking at the site, Kumar said the Ular Sun Temple is an important historical and mythological heritage location.
He noted that around Rs 14 crore had been sanctioned by the Tourism Department during his tenure to upgrade the temple complex. He added that the development work is currently underway and should be completed with quality standards and timely execution.
Instructions to Officials
Kumar directed officials present to speed up construction work and ensure improved facilities for devotees and tourists. He also stressed the need for maintaining standards in ongoing development activities.
Security Arrangements and Local Presence
A heavy police deployment was made during the visit to manage crowd movement and ensure order. Senior officials, including administrative and police officers from the district, were present on-site.
Local representatives and workers from JD(U) and NDA constituents, along with villagers, gathered at the temple during the visit.
