Patna: Mass yoga sessions were organised across Patna on Sunday morning as Bihar joined nationwide celebrations marking International Yoga Day, drawing participation from citizens, public representatives and government officials.
The state-level programme was held at the Pataliputra Sports Complex, where Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led the celebrations and performed various yoga postures alongside senior political leaders and dignitaries.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Union ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, and Ram Nath Thakur, minister Nishant Kumar, former minister Mangal Pandey, Patna Mayor Sita Sahu and several senior officials were among those who attended the event.
Chief Minister Highlights Benefits Of Yoga
Addressing participants, Choudhary extended his greetings to the people of Bihar on International Yoga Day and described yoga as an essential component of a healthy lifestyle.
He said yoga goes beyond physical exercise and serves as a means of achieving mental balance, inner peace and a positive approach to life.
“Yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a way of maintaining harmony between the body and mind,” he said.

Credits Global Recognition To India’s Cultural Heritage
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister described yoga as one of India’s most significant cultural traditions and credited it with showing the world a path towards healthier living.
He noted that yoga had gained international recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to the United Nations declaring 21 June as International Yoga Day.
According to Choudhary, millions of people across the world have embraced yoga as part of their daily routines, contributing to healthier and more balanced lifestyles.

Call For Wider Adoption
The Chief Minister urged people to practise yoga regularly and emphasised its role in promoting physical fitness, mental wellbeing and preventive healthcare.
He said the widespread adoption of yoga could contribute to building a healthier and stronger society.
Concluding his message, Choudhary called on citizens to make yoga a daily habit and spread awareness about its benefits among family members and communities.
International Yoga Day is observed annually on 21 June and is marked by mass yoga sessions, awareness campaigns and wellness programmes across India and around the world.
