Patna: Bijendra Nath Tiwari, brother of Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi, was critically injured after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, according to media reports.
The incident reportedly took place in Belsand village under the Madhopur police station area. Tiwari sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to a local hospital before being referred to AIIMS Patna for specialised treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Police Launch Investigation
Police officials have formed a special team to investigate the attack and apprehend those responsible. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations following the incident.
According to preliminary information, the assault may have stemmed from a long-standing dispute between Tiwari and some of his neighbours. However, police have not officially confirmed the motive and said the exact circumstances will be established after a detailed investigation.
Accused Allegedly Fled the Scene
Reports indicate that the attackers fled immediately after carrying out the assault. Local police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and began collecting evidence.
Investigators have reportedly identified the suspects and are questioning family members and local residents as part of the probe.
Tension in the Village
The attack has created tension in Belsand village, which is the ancestral village of Pankaj Tripathi. The actor is known to visit the village periodically.
Authorities said security and surveillance in the area have been strengthened to prevent any further disturbance while the investigation continues.
Hospital Video Emerges
A video shared by news agency showed doctors treating Bijendra Nath Tiwari at the Model Hospital in Gopalganj. The footage also showed a large number of people gathered at the hospital following news of the attack.
Police officials said further details regarding the motive and sequence of events would emerge after the investigation is completed. No arrests had been officially announced at the time of publication.
