Patna: The upcoming Shravani Mela, beginning July 30, will feature a blend of modern visual technology and religious storytelling, with Bihar planning drone shows, laser displays and themed lighting across key pilgrimage points linked to the journey to Baba Dham.
Officials said the arrangements are aimed at enhancing the devotional experience along the route from Ajgaibinath Dham, Sultanganj on the banks of the Ganga River to Deoghar Baba Baidyanath Dham.
Technology Meets Pilgrimage Experience
The Tourism Department has planned motif-based lighting, musical fountains, laser projections and drone formations at major congregation points. A dedicated laser show based on Shiva temples of Bihar will also be showcased during the fair.
According to Public Relations Officer of the Tourism Department, the initiative is designed to create “a unique confluence of modern technology and religious faith.”
Drone Formations and Shiva Symbolism
A key attraction will be coordinated drone displays forming images such as Lord Shiva, the trident (Trishul), the damru, and the chant “Har Har Mahadev” in the night sky.
These aerial visuals are expected to be organised in sync with cultural narratives linked to the Kanwar pilgrimage route and Shiva worship traditions.
Water Screen and Laser Projection Plans
A large water screen show is planned along the Ganga riverbanks, where laser projections will depict the spiritual significance of key locations on the pilgrimage route.
The presentations will highlight sites such as Garibnath Temple, Muzaffarpur and Haleshwar Sthan, Sitamarhi, along with the cultural importance of the Kanwar Yatra connecting Sultanganj to Baba Dham.
Preparations and Administrative Process
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has issued a tender to select an agency responsible for executing the installations. Officials said the selection process is expected to be completed by June 30.
A feasibility team has also been formed to assess technical requirements, including variations in river water levels that may affect installation of the water screen system.
