Patna: The controversy surrounding Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD) president Tej Pratap Yadav and his former personal assistant Motilal has taken a new turn after Motilal’s wife claimed that he has been missing for several days and sought police intervention to trace him.
The development comes after Tej Pratap Yadav lodged an FIR at the Secretariat Police Station in Patna, accusing Motilal of stealing cash, valuables and electronic devices from his official residence.
Wife Rejects Theft Allegations
Motilal’s wife, Preeti Bharti, has dismissed the allegations against her husband as baseless and expressed concern over his disappearance.
According to her complaint filed at Agamkuan Police Station, Motilal has been untraceable for the past several days. She said the family has been unable to contact him as his mobile phone remains switched off.
Preeti claimed that she last spoke to her husband through a video call on Monday evening. She alleged that the call was made from Tej Pratap Yadav’s mobile phone and that Tej Pratap was present during the conversation.
She further claimed that she was later informed that her husband’s mobile phone was in Tej Pratap Yadav’s possession.
Family Expresses Fear and Seeks Protection
Preeti Bharti said the family is deeply worried about Motilal’s safety and fears that he may have been harmed.
She appealed to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to intervene and ensure that her husband is traced at the earliest. According to her, the family has been living under stress and uncertainty since his disappearance.
She also alleged that unidentified individuals had questioned family members about certain documents and that mobile phones were taken from their residence during recent visits by police personnel and others.
According to Preeti, six mobile phones were removed from the house. She said the repeated visits have created an atmosphere of fear within the family.
Theft FIR Against Former Aide
The missing-person complaint comes against the backdrop of a theft case registered by Tej Pratap Yadav.
In the FIR, Tej Pratap alleged that around Rs 20 lakh in cash belonging to the party, along with gold jewellery, a MacBook, iPad, laptop, hard disk, drone and other valuables, were stolen from his official residence at 42 Harding Road in Patna on the night of June 22.
According to the complaint, Motilal Yadav was allegedly seen leaving the premises carrying a bag on the night of the incident.
