Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called on senior leaders and office-bearers of the party to actively participate in the Congress’s proposed ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ (Voice of Students) campaign, describing it as an opportunity to highlight the challenges facing young people across the country.
In a letter issued on Saturday, Gandhi appealed to the party’s general secretaries, state in-charges, state Congress presidents, department heads, and district and city Congress presidents to work together to make the campaign a success.
Focus On Student And Youth Issues
In the letter, Gandhi said young people in India were facing an unprecedented crisis marked by repeated examination irregularities and limited employment opportunities.
He cited issues including question paper leaks, examination cancellations, repeated re-examinations, delays in government recruitment, a large number of vacant government posts, rising unemployment and the increasing cost of education.
According to Gandhi, these problems have placed significant pressure on students and their families.
Bihar Visit Planned
Referring to the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ rally recently held in Kota, Gandhi said the event had initiated a wider national conversation on the state of the education system.
He said the campaign would now be expanded across the country to raise awareness of students’ concerns and broader issues affecting education and employment.
As part of the initiative, Gandhi is scheduled to visit Bihar on July 11, where he is expected to interact with students.
Appeal To Party Workers
Gandhi urged Congress leaders at every organisational level to extend full support to the party’s youth wings, including the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), during the campaign.
He said the initiative was intended to amplify the concerns of students and young people while advocating improvements in the education system and greater employment opportunities.
The Congress plans to carry the campaign across different states as part of its outreach to students and youth ahead of upcoming political engagements.
