Patna: A major police operation has uncovered an alleged prostitution racket operating from a hotel in the heart of Patna, located within the high-profile Gandhi Maidan police station jurisdiction.
Acting on a tip-off that an organized ring had been active for an extended period, a special police team was constituted to raid the premises. During the operation, officers conducted a room-by-room search, leading to the rescue of ten women and young adults, most of whom reportedly hail from West Bengal and Delhi.
Evidence Recovered
During the search, officers recovered a significant quantity of “objectionable items,” including numerous liquor bottles, which have been seized as evidence. City Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanket Kumar confirmed the findings, stating that, prima facie, the evidence points to a sophisticated prostitution network.
“We have taken one individual into custody and are currently conducting an intense interrogation to map the network,” SP Kumar said. “Our priority is to determine how these women were brought to Patna and the circumstances surrounding their recruitment.”
Expanding Investigation
The investigation is now focused on identifying the masterminds behind the operation. Authorities are currently reviewing hotel registers, CCTV footage, and digital evidence from mobile phones and other electronic devices seized at the scene to trace brokers and other members of the syndicate.
The role of the hotel’s management is also under scrutiny. Police are investigating whether the establishment’s operators were complicit in the illegal activities or had willfully turned a blind eye to the operation of the racket on their premises.
As the rescued women remain in protective custody, police have stated that further legal action—including potential charges of human trafficking and violations of the excise act—will be determined once the interrogation of the suspects and the analysis of the seized documentation are complete.
