Patna: The Bihar government has announced plans to develop the Transformer Repair Workshop (TRW) in Patna into a state-level model facility, as part of a broader effort to strengthen the state’s electricity distribution network and improve the reliability of power supply.
The announcement followed an inspection of the workshop at Board Colony by Ajay Yadav, Secretary of the Energy Department and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL).
Saurabh Jorwal, Managing Director of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), also attended the inspection.

During the review, Yadav directed officials to ensure that transformer repairs are completed promptly while maintaining high quality standards to minimise disruptions to electricity supply.
He also instructed the workshop to maintain adequate stocks of critical components and spare parts to ensure replacement transformers are readily available during emergencies.
Officials were further asked to maintain sufficient inventories of transformers of different capacities to meet consumer demand in both rural and urban areas.
Patna Workshop To Become Model Facility
The Energy Secretary directed officials to begin the procedural and structural work required to upgrade the Patna workshop into a model transformer repair facility for the state.
According to the department, the initiative will include the standardisation of repair procedures, capacity building of personnel and the introduction of modern technologies to improve operational efficiency.
Yadav said the proposed upgrades would help strengthen the reliability of Bihar’s power distribution system by improving the speed and quality of transformer repairs.
