Patna: The political campaign for the Bankipur Assembly by-election intensified on Monday, with leaders of the BJP, RJD and Jan Suraaj conducting roadshows and public interactions across the constituency.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led a roadshow in support of BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha. The roadshow began at Bhattacharya Mor and proceeded towards Udyog Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan, covering around 2 km.
At a public meeting near Mona Cinema, the BJP leaders appealed to voters to support Sinha and press the lotus symbol on the EVM. Leaders of NDA alliance partners also participated in the roadshow.
Choudhary claimed that the turnout and response during the campaign indicated strong support for the NDA candidate.
“The streets of Bankipur witnessed a large gathering on Monday. The enthusiasm among people indicates that NDA-supported BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha will receive a strong mandate in the Bankipur by-election on July 30,” Choudhary said.
Tejashwi Yadav campaigns for RJD candidate
The RJD also stepped up its campaign, with party national working president Tejashwi Yadav conducting a roadshow in support of Rekha Gupta.
Yadav’s roadshow covered Purandarpur in Ward 16, Chandpur Bela in Ward 17 and Jai Prakash Nagar. He said voters in Bankipur were seeking change and claimed that people had become disillusioned with the BJP government.
Yadav also claimed that the contest in Bankipur was primarily between the BJP and RJD. During his campaign, he visited the family of Bunty Yadav in Karbigahiya.
Prashant Kishor holds neighbourhood meetings
Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor continued his campaign through neighbourhood meetings and “Chai Pe Charcha” interactions in different wards of Bankipur.
Kishor urged voters to support his party’s campaign for political and administrative change. Using the slogan “Right people, right thinking,” he alleged that Bankipur had been treated merely as a vote bank.
He appealed to voters to press the schoolbag symbol at serial number 9 on the EVM, saying the decision should be guided by the future of children and the need for change in governance.
The three-way campaign comes ahead of the July 30 Bankipur Assembly by-election, with major political parties intensifying their outreach to voters in the final phase of campaigning.
