Patna: Bihar Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra reviewed the progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project at the Patna Metro Depot on September 3 and directed officials to accelerate construction and resolve implementation-related obstacles promptly.
The minister reviewed construction across different corridors and sections, progress against scheduled milestones and the action plan for upcoming phases.
Sandeep Kumar R. Pudakalkatti, secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department and managing director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL), briefed the minister on the status of construction and key project timelines.
Focus On Construction Pace
Mishra directed officials to ensure that construction targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines and called for regular monitoring through reviews and site inspections.
He also instructed officials to identify and resolve obstacles at different stages of implementation without delay, while maintaining prescribed standards for construction quality and safety.
The minister stressed the need for better coordination among government agencies, officials, contractors and other stakeholders involved in the project.
Traffic Management During Construction
Mishra directed officials to ensure that construction activities do not cause unnecessary inconvenience to the public.
He called for effective traffic management around construction sites, clear information about diversions and alternative routes, and measures to maintain smooth traffic movement on affected roads.
Environmental Measures
Before the review meeting, Mishra planted a sapling on the Patna Metro Depot premises and emphasised the need to maintain a clean and green environment within the project complex.
He said the metro project would play an important role in improving public transport and connectivity in Patna and called for its timely completion.
Senior officials from PMRCL and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), contractors involved in the project and representatives of partner agencies attended the review meeting.
