Rajgir, Nalanda: Justice Manmohan of the Supreme Court of India visited Nalanda University in Rajgir on Saturday, September 12, accompanied by his wife. During the visit, he interacted with Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, senior officials, faculty members and researchers.
Professor Chaturvedi welcomed Justice Manmohan and introduced him to members of the university community. He also briefed the visiting judge on the university’s academic and research activities and its initiatives aimed at connecting higher education with surrounding communities.
Sahabhagita Programme Highlighted
The Vice Chancellor outlined the university’s Sahabhagita programme, through which Nalanda University works with neighbouring communities and schools on initiatives linked to sustainable development.
The programme focuses on taking the university’s ideas and academic engagement beyond the campus and working with communities at the grassroots level.
Justice Manmohan was also briefed on the university’s Sastrartha initiative and presented with a copy of its publication during the interaction.
Nalanda’s Net-Zero Campus Draws Praise
A presentation on Nalanda University’s Net-Zero campus and sustainability initiatives was made during the visit.
Professor Chaturvedi informed Justice Manmohan that, with the support of the Government of Bihar, a report has been prepared on the university’s work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in neighbouring villages.
Justice Manmohan appreciated the university’s sustainability initiatives and said institutions across the country should take note of the work being undertaken at Nalanda.
He said the university was setting an example for other institutions through its efforts towards sustainable development and a Net-Zero campus.
Justice Manmohan Calls Net-Zero Effort Innovative
Appreciating Nalanda University’s Net-Zero initiative, Justice Manmohan described it as an innovative approach for educational institutions.
He congratulated the university community and said that people associated with the institution had come with a purpose and a commitment to contributing to society. He added that such an approach should be encouraged and appreciated.
The Supreme Court judge also praised the university’s efforts to engage with society and translate its ideas into action at the grassroots level.
Judge Praises University Campus
Justice Manmohan particularly appreciated the beautiful and healthy campus environment at Nalanda University.
He said that this was his first visit to the university but expressed a desire to return soon.
Following the interaction, Justice Manmohan and his wife toured the university campus and observed its sustainable infrastructure, academic facilities and community-oriented initiatives.
The visit highlighted Nalanda University’s efforts to combine academic and research activities with sustainability, Net-Zero development and engagement with neighbouring communities.
