Gayaji: Bihar is preparing a second Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) centre for its Dial 112 emergency service in Gayaji, with operations expected to begin in October, according to officials.
The new centre is being established at the old SSP office building in Gayaji. The Police Building Construction Corporation Limited is currently preparing the premises for the emergency response system.
Gayaji Centre To Handle Every Fourth Call
Once operational, the Gayaji centre will receive every fourth Dial 112 call as part of the planned call-distribution system. The arrangement is intended to reduce the Patna centre’s dependence on handling all emergency calls.
The centre will have space for 20 personnel to receive emergency calls simultaneously. Based on information received from callers, staff will initiate the required response, including dispatching Dial 112 emergency vehicles to the relevant areas.
Backup During Technical Disruptions
The Gayaji centre will also function as a parallel facility for the emergency service. If the Patna centre faces technical faults, network problems or other disruptions, calls can be rerouted to Gaya.
This arrangement is intended to ensure that emergency calls can continue to be received and processed even when the primary centre faces operational difficulties.
Patna Centre Capacity To Increase
The existing Dial 112 centre in Patna can currently accommodate 90 personnel receiving emergency calls simultaneously.
A new Dial 112 building is also under construction in Rajiv Nagar. Once operational, the Patna facility is expected to increase its call-handling capacity to 150 personnel.
Additional Emergency Response Capacity
The proposed Gayaji centre will provide Bihar’s Dial 112 system with an additional location for receiving emergency calls and coordinating responses.
Officials expect the parallel setup to reduce reliance on a single centre and provide an alternative arrangement during technical disruptions or other situations affecting the Patna facility.
