Patna: With the conclusion of the Chhath festival, thousands of people returning to their workplaces are facing soaring airfares across major routes from Patna. The sharp post-festival rush has led to a significant rise in ticket prices, with most flights either nearly full or selling at premium rates.
As of November 3, fares on several routes have more than doubled compared with regular days. A one-way ticket from Patna to Delhi now costs over Rs 9,000, while flights to Mumbai are priced above Rs 13,000. Tickets to Bengaluru exceed Rs 11,000, and fares to Chandigarh have climbed past Rs 14,000. Similarly, flights to Pune are selling for more than Rs 15,000, and those to Ahmedabad are over Rs 10,000.
Airlines attribute the steep hike to the surge in post-festival travel demand. Trains are also running near full capacity, adding pressure on those opting for air travel. According to industry officials, the high prices are likely to persist for the next few days, given the sustained rush of passengers.
