Patna: JD(U) MLA Anant Singh has criticised the recent lathi-charge on students, calling the police action “highly improper” and saying the use of force could not be justified.

Speaking to reporters, Singh said the manner in which the students were assaulted was wrong. He maintained that a lathi-charge in such circumstances was unacceptable and expressed his protest over the incident.

Criticism of Student Lathi-Charge

Commenting on the police action, Singh said the authorities should not have resorted to force against students. He said the incident was inappropriate and deserved criticism, signalling his disagreement with the handling of the protest.

His remarks come amid continued political attention over the lathi-charge, with opposition parties and several public figures questioning the administration’s response.

Praises Government’s 100-Day Performance

Alongside his criticism of the police action, Singh praised the Bihar government led by Samrat Choudhary for its performance during its first 100 days.

He said the government had delivered significant work during the period and had established new benchmarks for development.

Commends Health Minister Nishant Kumar

Responding to a question about Health Minister Nishant Kumar, Singh said the minister was performing well and that the impact of his work was visible on the ground.

He expressed confidence in the minister’s efforts and described his performance as commendable.

Mixed Political Message

Singh’s remarks have drawn attention for combining support for the government’s overall performance with criticism of the police action against students.

While backing the government’s achievements and praising senior colleagues, the JD(U) legislator publicly questioned the handling of the student protest, highlighting a contrast between his endorsement of the administration’s work and his criticism of the lathi-charge.
