Gopalganj/Patna: Police in Gopalganj district have registered an FIR against supporters of Anant Singh after a viral video allegedly showed men brandishing weapons during a ceremonial gathering.
The case was lodged at Mirganj Police Station following directions from superintendent of police Vinay Tiwari.
Viral Video Sparks Police Action
According to officials, the incident took place during an Upanayan Sanskar ceremony in Semrao village under the Hathua police station area, where Anant Singh had reportedly arrived with supporters to attend the event.
Videos circulating on social media appeared to show several individuals dancing alongside performers while openly displaying firearms.
Police said nine named individuals and several unidentified persons have been booked in connection with the incident.
Raids Under Way
Following registration of the FIR, police launched raids to identify and arrest those involved in the alleged weapons display.
Officials said the investigation was initiated after the footage gained widespread circulation online.
Grand Convoy And Public Gathering
Local reports said Anant Singh arrived in the area with a convoy of more than 100 vehicles, attracting large crowds and supporters who welcomed him with flower showers and slogans.
Another video from the event, which circulated earlier, allegedly showed supporters throwing currency notes during dance performances.
Investigation Continues
Police said further legal action would depend on evidence gathered during the investigation, including verification of the authenticity of the viral videos and identification of the individuals seen carrying weapons.
