Patna: The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) has cancelled the selection of a candidate appointed as Assistant Professor in Sociology after a teaching experience certificate submitted during the recruitment process was found to be forged.
The Commission has also directed the concerned university to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the candidate under appropriate legal provisions.
Selection Under Sociology Recruitment
According to an official notification issued by the Commission, Manoj Kumar, bearing UID No. MAN11051980SOC0067627, had been selected under the Backward Class (BC) category for the subject of Sociology.
The selection was made under Advertisement No. AP-SOCI-17/20-21, and the candidate’s name appeared at serial number nine in the selection list.
Forged Certificate Detected During Verification
The matter came to light after verification conducted by Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University. In its report submitted to the Commission, the university registrar stated that the teaching experience certificate provided by the candidate was found to be forged.
Following the verification, the university cancelled the appointment and posting of the candidate with immediate effect. The university also decided to terminate the appointment retrospectively from the date on which the appointment letter had originally been issued.
BSUSC Cancels Appointment Recommendation
Acting on the university’s report, Bihar State University Service Commission cancelled the recommendation related to the candidate’s appointment.
The Commission stated that the recommendation recorded in the selection list would now be treated as null and void. It further clarified that the candidate’s selection mentioned in the selection and allocation lists published on January 10, 2025, and January 13, 2025, would no longer remain valid.
FIR Ordered Against Candidate
Considering the matter serious, the Commission instructed the concerned university to lodge an FIR against the candidate.
The action is being viewed as part of efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in the appointment process for university faculty positions in Bihar.
The decision also signals stricter scrutiny of documents submitted during recruitment and reinforces the Commission’s stance against the use of forged certificates in government appointments.
