Aurangabad/Patna: Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajeev Ranjan Kumar reached the Aurangabad district civil court on a bicycle on Wednesday morning, drawing attention within the court premises and across the city.
According to court sources, the distance between the judge’s official residence and the court complex is around one kilometre. Instead of using an official or private vehicle, he chose to travel by bicycle.
Message on fuel conservation
The move was seen as an effort to encourage reduced dependence on petrol and diesel while promoting environmental awareness.
Advocates, court employees and visitors present at the court premises appreciated the initiative. Several people said such steps by individuals in responsible public positions could encourage wider public participation in environmentally conscious practices.
Focus on health and pollution control
The initiative was also viewed as a message on maintaining personal health and reducing pollution levels.
At a time of growing concerns over fuel consumption and air pollution, the judge’s decision was regarded by many as a positive public example supporting sustainable transport choices.
