Patna: A lecture on “Mahatma Gandhi’s Global Humanism” was held on Monday at Bapu Tower in Patna as part of the ongoing Bapu Samvad Series.
The sixth session of the dialogue series brought together students, academics and public figures to explore the contemporary relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy. The event featured author Dr Jyotish Joshi as the keynote speaker.
In his address, Joshi argued that Gandhi’s thought was deeply rooted in India’s Sanatan tradition, adding that the ideals behind his concept of swaraj drew inspiration from the Upanishads and Vedas. He described global humanism as essential to individual self-improvement and moral development.
Vinay Kumar, director of Bapu Tower, welcomed guests and spoke about the humanistic principles embedded in Gandhian philosophy, citing practical examples. In his presidential remarks, poet and psychiatrist Dr Vinay Kumar said Gandhi’s life and ideas represented a lasting heritage for humanity.
The session was conducted by Arun Kumar Pathak, under secretary at Bapu Tower, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Lalit Kumar Singh, deputy director. Students from institutions including A.N. College, St Xavier’s College, Dayanand Balak High School and Dayanand Kanya High School, Mithapur, attended in large numbers, along with teachers and other guests.
