Bhagalpur: Passengers travelling by Bhagalpur Transport Corporation buses have a new reason to smile. The corporation has launched a cashless ticketing system for the first time in its history, starting with two buses on the Purnia route. The service, which began on Thursday, will soon be expanded to more buses across the city. Officials say the move is aimed at making travel easier, faster and more transparent for passengers.
The initiative is being implemented under the direction of Assistant Regional Manager Amit Kumar Shyamala. He explained that the new e-ticketing machines are being upgraded with details of routes, fares and other important information. Conductors are also being trained to use the machines so that the process remains smooth for everyone. With this new system, passengers will be able to pay using debit cards, credit cards and digital payment apps like PhonePe and Google Pay, reducing the need to carry cash.
Officials believe the step will also stop the practice of conductors charging random fares from passengers. By using e-ticketing machines, every ticket will be recorded properly and passengers will know exactly how much they are paying. This is expected to bring more trust in the transport service. At the same time, the transport department is preparing to send 23 buses to Purnia for the Prime Minister’s upcoming programme, showing how busy the corporation is during this time.
Passengers have already started sharing positive feedback. Sarvesh, a passenger travelling to Purnia, said that he bought his ticket using his phone and found the process very convenient. Sushmita and Roshni, who travel to Gedabari regularly, said that earlier tickets were issued manually, but now getting tickets from the machine feels modern and quick. Many passengers believe this new system will save time, bring transparency and make travel less stressful.
