Sabour: Preparations are underway for the National Farmers’ Fair–cum–Exhibition 2026 at Bihar Agricultural University, where a three-day event aimed at promoting modern agricultural practices will be held from March 16 to 18.
University authorities said extensive arrangements are being made to ensure participation from farmers, agricultural scientists, agri-entrepreneurs and students, as well as institutions connected with the agriculture sector. The event is expected to bring together stakeholders from across Bihar and neighbouring states.
This year’s theme, “Enhancing pulse and oilseed production for nutrition and food security,” aims to highlight improved cultivation methods, new crop varieties and modern technologies that can help farmers increase productivity. Organisers say the initiative is intended to strengthen both nutritional availability and food security at the state and national levels.
The fair will feature a wide range of activities related to agriculture and allied sectors. Farmers will be introduced to climate-resilient crop varieties, advanced farming techniques, small and efficient farm tools, soil and water conservation methods, modern irrigation systems and solutions related to farm mechanisation. The event will also highlight opportunities in agriculture-based entrepreneurship.
A key attraction will be direct interaction sessions between farmers and scientists, allowing cultivators to discuss their problems and receive practical solutions. The fair will also host exhibitions of improved seeds and planting materials, agricultural bio-products, farm machinery, livestock, floriculture and horticulture displays. Government departments and institutions will provide information on various farmer-focused welfare schemes.
According to the university, exhibition pavilions, stalls, technical session venues and meeting spaces for farmers are being prepared across the campus. Visitor facilities are also being arranged to accommodate the expected influx of participants.
D R Singh said the event would serve as an important platform for farmers, scientists and agribusiness professionals. “The theme reflects a pressing need of the present time. Through this fair, farmers will gain knowledge about new agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties and opportunities in agri-entrepreneurship,” he said.
University officials have invited farmers, students, entrepreneurs and the public to participate in large numbers in the fair at the Sabour campus and make use of the opportunity to learn about innovations that could make farming more profitable and sustainable.
