Gaya: Police in the Gaya district of Bihar have launched an intensive investigation following reports that a 13-year-old schoolgirl was abducted and gang-raped by four teenagers.
The incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of the Fatehpur police station as the girl was returning home from a government school after completing an examination. According to a written complaint filed by the girl’s mother, the victim was accompanied by a friend when they were intercepted by four youths on a local road.
The suspects allegedly used a cloth laced with an intoxicating substance to cover the girl’s mouth, rendering her unconscious before dragging her to a secluded location where the assault took place.
The alarm was raised by the victim’s friend, a fellow villager, who managed to escape and inform the girl’s family. Relatives rushed to the scene, causing the suspects to flee. The girl was subsequently found and brought home, where she recounted the ordeal to her parents.
The discovery of the assault led to an immediate escalation of tensions in the village. The victim’s father, supported by other local residents, confronted the families of the accused, resulting in a heated physical altercation and verbal exchanges.
Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Manoj Kumar confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against four juveniles under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“The case is being investigated with the utmost seriousness,” Inspector Kumar said. “The victim has undergone a medical examination in Gaya, and her statement has been formally recorded in court. A forensic team has also conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene to collect crucial evidence.”
Police units are currently conducting raids across the region to apprehend the four suspects, who remain at large. The authorities have emphasised that they are examining “every aspect” of the case with high intensity as they seek to bring the perpetrators to justice.
