Vaishali: Counting for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 began at 8 a.m., and the first few rounds have already brought unexpected twists. Early trends show a mixed picture, with the NDA performing strongly in several seats while the Grand Alliance also maintains leads in many key constituencies. The initial numbers make it clear that the final result could still go in any direction.
One of the most talked-about developments has come from the Mahua seat in Vaishali district. Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, is trailing in the early rounds. Contesting this year from the Jan Shakti Janata Dal, he has so far secured only 1,078 votes. This is far behind RJD candidate Mukesh Kumar Roshan, who has received 4,607 votes. But the biggest surprise in Mahua has been the rise of LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Sanjay Kumar Singh has taken the lead in Mahua with 6,901 votes, placing him well ahead of both the RJD and JSJD candidates. AIMIM’s Amit Kumar is currently in third place with 1,587 votes, leaving Tej Pratap in fourth position. The contest remains open, however, with several independent candidates also attempting to gain ground as counting continues.
In the Lalganj seat, RJD candidate Shivani Shukla, daughter of strongman Munna Shukla, is showing a strong performance. She is ahead by 8,785 votes, giving her a comfortable early lead over NDA’s Sanjay Kumar Singh. Her rise reflects the broader pattern emerging across Bihar—where some established leaders are facing challenges, while newer or less expected candidates are gaining momentum.
As counting continues throughout the day, the political landscape in Bihar is shifting with every round. With close contests, surprise leads, and unexpected setbacks, the final outcome will likely keep both alliances and voters on edge.
